The National Speaker Association Thrive Winter Workshop left me full of ideas, especially about ethical artificial intelligence in business. One program I've hopped on board with is Castmagic for my podcasts – talk about a time-saver!
At the NSA conference, I met with our fantastic client, Dr. Maryal Concepcion, a powerhouse in Direct Primary Care. She's spreading the word about alternative healthcare options because, let's face it, traditional methods just don't cut it, especially for self-insured folks like me. Check out my LinkedIn post for a sanity-saving tip I gave her to handle all the great conference info.
Exciting book news alert!
We've got big plans brewing for a companion book to Work Well. Play More! Director of Marketing Lisa Wood is gearing up to work her design magic on it in Q2. Get ready; it will be the perfect partner for your behavior change!
I've also signed a contract with Selfpublishing.com for the complete package deal to kickstart my fourth book later this year. Work Well. Play More! - but tailored specificallyfor teams. They loved the concept of Work Well. Play More! so much they opted to buy a copy even when I tried to give it to them for free! Plus, a stellar review from The Brainy Business herself?
Cue my happy dance!
On Tuesday, I swooped in to rescue Alexion Pharmaceuticals from their inbox chaos. One tip? A Communication Matrix—if this, then that. If it's this type of message, it's an email. If it's that kind of message, it's a Teams chat. It's all about streamlining communication for maximum efficiency and ensuring people know the proper message channels.
Over at CPA Academy, I shared some golden nuggets on time management with over 600 accountants. Are you prioritizing your inbox (another person's agenda) over your own task list? Let's flip the script and reclaim your time! Stop hitting it first thing in the morning and do your top task first.
When you get this, I'll be returning from three(!) personal Design Days at a garden cottage in Pittsboro, NC. No phone, email, or LinkedIn.
All focused on rehearsing my TEDx talk and crafting a brand-new keynote, tentatively titled The Relentless Pursuit of More. Who's ready to be the first to experience it? - Drop me a line, and let's get this party started!
On with the Weekender!

PRODUCTIVITY QUICK TIP
screen-free lunches
Do you find yourself having "screen lunches" during your workday? I explored the harmful effects of eating in front of a screen, such as reduced meal satisfaction, eye strain, digestive issues (yes, even those!), and decreased productivity. Start with just one screen-free meal a week - you may find your afternoons more energetic, focused, and creative!
I Respectfully Disagree: How to Have Difficult Conversations in a Divided World
This book by Justin Jones-Fosu made me do something rare - I stopped, reflected, and truly absorbed its message after each chapter. One significant takeaway was that agreeing to disagree isn't always respectful; sometimes, it's merely a cop-out, a sign of laziness, or a lack of willingness to understand the other person's perspective. It made me realize how I've fallen into the trap of 'keeping the peace' by disrespectfully agreeing rather than engaging authentically. In this upcoming year of politics and increasing polarization in many conversation areas, get this book to have constructive dialogues in the workplace, with loved ones or strangers, in all conversations.

My Little Free Library is finally ready to launch, and I’m ridiculously excited. My handy husband has spent the last month building it, and this weekend we’ll officially open it up to the neighborhood. It’s one of my Top Three personal priorities for the year, so this one feels extra good. To celebrate, I hosted a Books & Banter party with six girlfriends. Everyone brought one book to swap and one to donate, and we answered two questions: What was a pivotal book you read as a child? What’s...
Long lines at the airport last week gave me a timely reminder of a leadership problem I see everywhere at work. Leaders sometimes fix what’s visible instead of what’s broken. The result is just better optics, not better outcomes. There’s a reason this topic is hitting a nerve. Asana reports that knowledge workers spend 60% of their time on “work about work,” and Microsoft reports that employees are interrupted every two minutes by meetings, emails, or pings. That is not a time-management...
You don't need another meeting. You need a message that lands without stealing an hour of focus. Why it matters: • Short async vidoes force clarity and speed decisions. • A single swap can return 26 hours per person per year. What you’ll learn: • When Loom beats a meeting • The five‑part structure that keeps it under five minutes • Weekly swaps to test now • Metrics to track in 30 days Tactics: • Lead with one line: “I am recommending X by Friday because Y.” • Use Loom for tone, visuals, and...
